Bajaj Mobility AG to operate KTM, major restructuring begins

Last year, KTM announced that it was going bankrupt. However, before the inevitable happened, Bajaj jumped in as a saviour in the snowstorm of problems for the Austrian brand and invested a major Rs 7,700 crore to save the brand. Coming forward, the acquisition by Bajaj has now completed successfully, and the old parent company of KTM, i.e. Pierer Mobility AG, has now been renamed to Bajaj Mobility AG.

However, Bajaj had its plan ready, and it started to implement it with the official acquisition. The first step is to shorten the workforce, which has led to a major job cut of 500 positions in the company. The total workforce of KTM has now shrunken to 3,794 employees as of December 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, Bajaj has also cut KTM’s ties with CFMoto as its official European distributor. Additionally, KTM will no longer work with MV Agusta as this partnership has also been terminated. Bajaj Mobility AG will now focus on three brands only: GasGas, Husqvarna, and KTM.

Additionally, KTM’s X Bow project car has been scrapped, and the Felt cycle brand was already sold in November 2025. This major restructuring is expected to substantially improve KTM’s product lineup and profits in the next fiscal year.
