KTM RC 450 leaked, spotted in Australia

Key highlights

  • New KTM RC 450 leaked through early images, revealing a major design shift
  • Shares components with the latest Duke platform, including chassis and electronics
  • Expected to use a high-performance 450 cc single with strong mid-range punch

The KTM RC lineup is about to get a serious upgrade. Fresh leaks have revealed the new RC 450 in near-production form, and it already looks like KTM wants to reclaim its crown in the lightweight supersport segment.

Design

The design takes clear inspiration from the RC 8C and MotoGP prototypes. The fairing is slimmer, more aerodynamic, and heavily sculpted. The central LED headlight sits deeper in the cowl, giving the bike a more aggressive stance. KTM has also added winglet-like extensions on the sides, which should improve stability during hard braking and high-speed cornering. The tail section is cleaner and more compact, with a seat unit that looks ready for both track days and spirited weekend runs.

The chassis appears to be a variation of the new trellis frame seen on the latest Duke models. The subframe design looks simpler and lighter, hinting at improved rigidity and lower weight. The swingarm seems longer and more stable, supporting the idea that KTM wants more cornering confidence and better traction during track use. The bike also runs upside-down forks and a preload-adjustable rear shock, likely from WP.

Visually, this is the most mature RC seen to date. It looks more premium, more capable, and more confident. With rivals stepping up their game, KTM appears ready to deliver a machine that bridges the gap between everyday performance and track-ready aggression.

Powertrain

The RC 450 could use a heavily updated version of KTM’s 450 cc single-cylinder engine. Expect strong torque from low revs and a meaty mid-range, which should make the bike easier to ride fast without constantly redlining it. The engine casing shapes in the images match KTM’s newer generation motors, so improved cooling and smoother refinement are likely. The six-speed gearbox should pair with a quickshifter, because KTM knows that this segment demands it.

The global debut could be sooner than expected, judging by how complete the leaked prototype looks. When it arrives, the RC 450 will sit between the smaller RC 390 and the more hardcore RC 8C, creating a sweet spot for riders who want power, precision, and modern features without jumping to a litre-class monster.
