Mahindra has begun road testing the upcoming Thar 3-Door facelift. The recently spotted test mule shows that the new Thar will get significant design upgrades. Read more below.

Mahindra Thar 3-Door facelift – What to expect?
The recently spotted test mule of the upcoming Thar facelift shows the expected changes to be offered on the new model. While the body panels and the top of the car are as it is, the bumpers, front fascia, alloy wheels, and the rear design are camouflaged.
This indicates that the new Thar will expectedly get a completely revised outlook. We anticipate that it will carry design elements from the Thar Roxx, including the new grille, new headlamps, and new taillights. Moreover, the alloy design will also be revised.
With the facelift, Mahindra is also expected to upgrade the cabin of the Thar 3-Door. As expected, it will feature a new dashboard, a new steering wheel, a bigger infotainment screen, and more features like ventilated seats, ambient lighting, etc.
Powering the new Thar 3-Door facelift will be the current engine options. The facelift model will continue offering the 2.2-litre m-Hawk diesel, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, and the 1.5-litre m-Hawk diesel engine options. The 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options will also remain unchanged.
As far as the launch timeline is concerned, we suspect the new Thar facelift will be revealed early next year. For 2025, Mahindra is working on the new-gen Bolero, which is scheduled for a grand debut on August 15.
Our verdict
The Thar moniker has proven to be an utter success for the Pune-based manufacturer. The 4×4 capabilities of Thar, mixed with the new powerful engine options and butch dimensions, provide a good mix of practicality and off-roading. The new facelift of Thar will likely improve the overall experience of the car.
