Mahindra SUVs continue to dominate the Indian market, but high demand has led to extended waiting periods for the XUV 3XO and XUV700. Despite Mahindra’s efforts to ramp up production, delivery timelines have doubled for most variants, making it one of the longest wait times in the segment.

Mahindra XUV 3XO: Up to one year waiting period

The XUV 3XO compact SUV, has seen unprecedented demand, with sales crossing one lakh units in FY2025. However, this surge has resulted in significant delays, with waiting periods varying by variant:

  • MX1 variant – Over one year wait time.
  • MX2 and MX2 Pro petrol variants – Up to three months.
  • MX3, MX3 Pro, AX5, and AX5 L petrol variants – Up to two months.
  • AX7 and AX7 L petrol variants – Up to one month.
  • All diesel variants – Up to one month.

The XUV 3XO competes with the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Skoda Kushaq, offering three engine options—a 111 hp turbo-petrol, a 131 hp direct-injection turbo-petrol, and a 117 hp diesel.

Mahindra XUV700: waiting period across variants

The XUV700, Mahindra’s flagship SUV, has also seen delivery delays, with most variants now requiring up to one month for delivery.

  • MX, AX5, and AX7 variants – Immediate to one month wait time.
  • AX7 L variant – Consistently one month wait time.
  • ESP-equipped, six-seater, and dual-tone variants – Delivery timelines vary by dealership.

Mahindra recently launched the XUV700 Ebony Edition, confirming that this would be the final update for the ICE-powered model.

Market impact and customer response

With rising demand and extended waiting periods, Mahindra’s SUVs continue to dominate their respective segments. However, customers may need to plan purchases well in advance, especially for entry-level XUV 3XO variants.
