Maruti Suzuki e Vitara BNCAP crash test rating explained
The new e Vitara is based on Maruti’s new e-Heatect platform. It is not only the first-ever electric car of the brand in India, but it has also become one of the safest EVs as it has received a 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests.
As per the released official details, the EV has managed to score 31.49/32 points in adult safety and 43/49 points in child occupant safety. These numbers are staggering and are applicable on all the variants of the new EV. Maruti is offering the e Vitara in three variants – Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.
Talking about the safety features of the e Vitara, the EV is loaded with the standard 7 airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, seatbelt reminder system, ESC, ABS, pedestrian protection, EBD, TPMS, EPB, brake assist, reverse parking camera and sensors, and ISOFIX seats.
Maruti is offering the e Vitara with two battery packs: 48.8 kWh and 61 kWh. The base variant Delta will get the 48.8 kWh battery option only, while the mid- and the top-variant will get the 61 kWh battery pack with a maximum ARAI-claimed range of 543 km.
