Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid non-ADAS explained

The Victoris SUV made its debut recently in India. It has become the flagship model of Maruti Arena showrooms, as the company has positioned it above the Brezza.

However, despite becoming the first-ever Maruti car with an ADAS, the top variants of the Victoris hybrid lack this essential safety feature. The reason behind it is the market positioning of the car.

Let us explain further. The Victoris, technically speaking, has been positioned below the Grand Vitara, despite being loaded with ADAS. Only the 1.5L petrol AT variants ZXI and ZXI (O) are equipped with the Level 2 ADAS.

The reason is simple. The hybrid variants already cost north of Rs 19 lakh. If Maruti had added Level 2 ADAS on the top-spec variants, it would have surpassed the cost of the Grand Vitara, which would have been irrational.

The whole idea behind Victoris was to offer a big SUV in the Arena showrooms, which is affordable than the Nexa showroom SUV, i.e. the Grand Vitara. This is a smart marketing tactic that the company is using to diversify customers between both SUVs, which are perhaps divided only by the design and feature differences.
