- Maserati resumes GranTurismo and GranCabrio production at its historic Modena plant
- Two exclusive “Meccanica Lirica” One-Offs unveiled with bespoke exhausts and Fuoriserie styling
- Week-long celebration in Modena blends opera, design, and engineering brilliance
Maserati has brought its icons home, quite literally. The GranTurismo and GranCabrio are once again being handcrafted at the brand’s legendary Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena, the same soil that gave birth to the Trident’s most emotional machines. And to mark this rebirth, Maserati didn’t just hold a press event, it staged a full-scale opera.
The return of a legend
As part of the brand’s new “Meccanica Lirica” initiative, Maserati unveiled two jaw-dropping One-Off creations:
- GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica in Rosso Velluto
- GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica in Oro Lirico
Both cars wear Fuoriserie custom touches, gold Trident emblems, and a reworked Nettuno V6 exhaust that’s been fine-tuned to sing rather than roar. It’s an exhaust note so rich and emotional, it feels less like a car warming up and more like an aria warming the soul.
The sound of the Trident
Gone is the V8 of old, but the new exhaust ensures the music lives on. Engineers used software-controlled valves and metallic-finish tailpipes to craft a deeper, more dynamic tone that changes with your drive mode.
Inside, both cars blend burgundy leather, nude Alcantara, and red-painted poplar wood, accented with gold chrome and a subtle “Creata a Modena” badge. Think of it as an orchestra pit dressed in Italian couture.
Modena takes the spotlight
The celebration spilled beyond the factory gates and into the heart of Modena. Maserati teamed up with Sonus faber, the master of Italian acoustics, to create a city-wide sensory experience. At Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni, a live orchestra performed Turandot, ending with Nessun dorma as the GranTurismo rolled onto stage, literally stealing the spotlight.
Meanwhile, the city came alive with Trident-lit billboards, historic car parades, and even a gala dinner curated by chef Massimo Bottura.
The Meccanica Lirica Pack
If you’re tempted by the One-Offs but prefer something a little more attainable, Maserati’s offering a Meccanica Lirica Pack across the GranTurismo and GranCabrio range. It brings the same Crio alloy wheels, special paint, and exclusive interiors, though the bespoke exhaust remains reserved for the true One-Offs. Even the Folgore EVs can sport the look—minus the pipes, of course.
