What to expect from the upcoming MG Majestor?

MG’s latest project is the new Majestor, or Rakan 4X4, for the Kuwait market. While the Indian customers have been consistently hyped for the Majestor’s launch, MG has silently introduced it in Kuwait, revealing its design, interior, and engine specification details.

The Majestor is essentially a rebranded Gloster, but it offers an all-new exterior and interior design. On the outside, it gets the new fascia with the sharp LED DRLs and vertical LED headlights, while the big skid plate and a new horizontal slatted grille give it a butch outlook.

The side profile looks identical to the Gloster, as the visible change includes the new dual-tone alloy wheels, while the rear end has a new connected LED light setup and a new bumper design. The big Rakan lettering is expected to be replaced by Majestor in India.

On the inside, the MG Rakan features an all-new cabin with a redesigned dashboard and a triple colour leather upholstery, which includes the hefty use of ivory white. We believe that the Indian-spec model will not get this combination.

In terms of features, it gets a new digital instrument cluster, a big infotainment screen, wireless connectivity, electric seats with ventilation and heating, a redesigned centre console with rotary knobs for ride and 4X4 mode change, a JBL sound system, and safety features like the Level 2 ADAS.

Powering the MG Rakan is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that makes 216 bhp and 500 Nm of power and torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The MG Rakan will be launched in India on February 12 as the MG Majestor. Its expected launch price is Rs 45-50 lakh, and it will compete with the Toyota Fortuner Legender.
