Kawasaki has rolled out the MY26 Z650RS in India, and yes, it is exactly what it promises to be. Old school charm with new age engineering. Priced from INR 7.83 lakh ex showroom, the latest Z650RS continues Kawasaki’s neo retro journey while quietly sharpening its claws for everyday riders who want style without sacrificing performance.
This launch also marks a big emotional milestone. The Z650RS celebrates over 50 years of the legendary Z lineage that began with the iconic Z1 back in 1972.
What’s new for MY26
The MY26 Z650RS looks familiar at first glance, but spend a moment longer and the updates start to stand out. The motorcycle now sports wider shrouds, layered bodywork, a beefier handlebar, and triple LED lighting up front. The stance looks stronger and more confident, without going overboard.
It still carries that timeless round LED headlamp and twin dial instrumentation, paired with a modern LCD display. This blend of analogue charm and digital convenience feels well judged. Kawasaki also adds smartphone connectivity via Rideology App, because even retro bikes need Bluetooth these days.
The colour option for India is Metallic Ocean Blue, and yes, it looks as classy in real life as it sounds on paper.
Engine and performance
Powering the Z650RS is the familiar 649cc parallel twin engine. It produces 68 PS at 8,000 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm. Numbers aside, this engine is known for its smooth delivery and strong low and mid range punch. It works equally well in traffic and on open highways.
The six speed gearbox comes with an assist and slipper clutch. Lever effort stays light, and aggressive downshifts remain drama free. Kawasaki Traction Control is standard, offering two modes to suit different riding conditions.
Availability
The MY26 Kawasaki Z650RS is available at authorised Kawasaki dealerships across India. Deliveries are scheduled to begin from mid January 2026.
