- Upcoming Renault Duster 7-seater test mule spied
- Likely to feature an extended wheelbase
- Engine specifications will be shared with the 5-seater Duster
After the success of the 5-seater Duster, Renault India is now working to introduce a longer version of the same. The upcoming Duster-based 7-seater SUV test mule was recently spotted in Chennai, revealing its side profile details.
What to expect from the 7-seater Renault Duster?
Although it is not the first time that it has been spotted on a test run, the latest spy image gives us a clear idea of what to expect from the unnamed SUV. While it will be based on the current Duster, the test car clearly has an extended wheelbase and a longer rear quarter panel, which has been done to accommodate the extra third row of seats.
Unlike the 5-seater Duster, it looks more like an urban SUV with a crossover appeal, especially when looked at from the rear. Although it still has a chunky beltline, flared wheel arches, and a muscular overall appeal, its rear quarter has an upright stance with a crossover look.
We suspect that the front and rear design will be different from the Duster. We have already seen a similar product strategy and design difference between the Hyundai Creta and Alcazar. So, expect something similar from this 7-seater SUV too.
With that said, the brand is suspected to focus on its cabin experience. It is likely to feature a plush interior with soft-touch leather, a dual-tone cabin theme, and more features like reclining second-row seats, rear AC vents, and more.
As of now, this SUV is in the mid-stage of development, and we believe it will hit the Indian roads by the end of next year. Talking about its price, it is expected to be positioned around Rs 18-25 lakh.
