Skoda Volkswagen to partner with JSW?

As per a latest report, the VAG group is searching for a new local partner to ease the financial stress of 1 million Euros of its upcoming CMP21 platform plans.

The latest report claims that the German carmaker is in talks with the JSW Group, an emerging name in the auto industry, which also has equity in the JSW-MG Motor India.

So, why JSW? Well, Skoda and VW had earlier approached Mahindra and Mahindra to work together on a new agreement for manufacturing the CMP21 SUVs. However, due to the strategic and valuation ideology differences, this agreement could not be made.

Now, the brand is in talks with JSW. Meanwhile. JSW has a huge financial potential, and it also has the industrial backup, just exactly what the Skoda VW group needs for the CMP21 platform.

Speaking of the upcoming CMP21 platform, it had earlier replaced the MQB AO 37 platform, with its versitality to accommodate ICE, hybrid, and EV powertrains. Skoda is already working on the first SUV to be based on this platform. This new SUV will debut mid-2027 globally.

With the support of JSW, if the deal is made, Volkswagen and Skoda will be able to expand its product portfolio in India and other countries efficiently.
