Tata.ev has brought its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing option to the Harrier.ev, giving buyers a way to bring down the initial cost of purchasing the electric SUV. The Harrier.ev joins the Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, Tiago.ev, Punch.ev and Sierra.ev under Tata.ev’s expanded BaaS programme.
Lower upfront price
The standard Harrier.ev starts at Rs 21.79 lakh, while the BaaS version has a starting vehicle price of Rs 14.49 lakh. This reduces the initial vehicle acquisition cost by Rs 7.30 lakh, with the battery financed separately.
The BaaS price listed by Tata.ev is for the 65kWh Harrier.ev, with the battery financing and usage component priced at Rs 5.9 per km. The calculation assumes 60km of daily usage and does not include charging costs. Tata.ev’s current specifications list the Harrier.ev with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options, with the 75 kWh version offering up to 627km MIDC range.
What buyers actually pay under BaaS
With BaaS, the battery and vehicle are financed through separate loan accounts. The battery EMI varies according to factors such as battery capacity, down payment and loan tenure.
The Rs 5.9 per km figure is therefore the battery financing and usage component, not the cost of electricity. Charging, maintenance, repairs and other associated expenses remain outside this amount. Tata.ev has partnered with multiple financiers for the programme, with financing subject to approval and applicable terms.
Customers can still choose conventional ownership and purchase the Harrier.ev with its battery. The BaaS plan simply provides another way to structure the purchase.
The announced BaaS pricing is applicable to personal users, while road tax, insurance, TCS and other statutory levies are excluded.
For buyers who want a Harrier.ev but prefer to spread the battery cost separately, BaaS adds another route to ownership without changing the vehicle itself.
