Tata Punch Diesel could launch only if customers demand
Mohan Savarkar, Chief Product Officer of Tata Motors, has recently revealed in a media interaction that the brand will not shy away from developing a diesel engine-powered Punch SUV in the future, only if the customers demand.
As told to the reporting media agency, Mohan Savarkar said that Tata has always remained connected to its customers and their feedback. This feedback is the main motivation behind the introduction of the turbo-petrol engine on the Punch facelift. Hence, if customers demand it in the future, Tata will introduce a diesel engine in the Punch.
While the majority of the manufacturers have axed the diesel engines, Tata continues to offer them in the affordable family cars like the Altroz and Nexon. Tata also happens to be one of the few brands that is not struggling with the DEF issue in the BS6 Phase 2 engines.
Speaking of the 2026 Punch, the mini SUV is the top-selling Tata car in India, and it now offers a mature, improved, and modern design with features like a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, auto climate control, leather seats, and more. It also offers a 5-star BNCAP rating, making it one of the safest SUVs in India.
