Tata Punch iCNG facelift interior spied with big-screen upgrade

The Tata Punch iCNG facelift has been spotted testing again, and this time the spy shots offer a close look at the updated interior. Tata seems to be giving its popular micro-SUV a healthy dose of modern tech, which makes sense considering how the segment has become a turf war for screens, connectivity and clever packaging.

Notable changes

The biggest change inside is the new floating touchscreen. It looks larger, sharper and far more premium than the current unit. Tata seems to be aligning the Punch with the newer Nexon and Harrier family, which means we can expect a cleaner UI, better graphics and possibly wireless connectivity baked right in. The dashboard layout has been revised around this display, giving the cabin a more grown-up look.

Another visible update is the new steering wheel. It carries the illuminated Tata logo and the sleek two-spoke design we’ve seen on the Nexon. This suggests upgrades to the steering controls and maybe even haptic switches if Tata wants to get fancy. The centre console also looks tidier. The physical climate control panel seems more compact, and the vents appear to be reshaped for a wider flow pattern.

On the outside, the facelift may also bring refreshed bumpers, new DRL signatures and revised alloy designs. Tata’s recent design direction leans towards clean surfaces and sharper light elements, so the Punch is due for that treatment as well. We’ll likely see these updates become clearer as the test mule sheds more camouflage.

What would stay the same

Since this is the iCNG version, the dual-cylinder boot layout will continue unchanged. That’s a good thing because it gives you usable luggage space, which most CNG cars politely forget about. The powertrain is expected to be the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine tuned for CNG efficiency. The current Punch iCNG has been a favourite for buyers who want SUV stance without fuel bills that hurt feelings, so Tata won’t mess too much with what works.

With rivals pushing harder in the affordable SUV space, Tata seems ready to keep the Punch fresh, more premium and feature-loaded. And with the iCNG version already carving a niche for cost-conscious city buyers, the facelift could give Tata an even stronger lead.
