Tata Sierra AWD coming in 2027
During the recent launch of the Sierra SUV, Tata Motors’ top official confirmed that the moniker will get an AWD version in early 2027. In fact, the AWD will make its debut with the Sierra Electric launch, which has been scheduled for next year. However, the ICE version will only get it by early 2027.
While not many details were revealed about the new AWD, the official did confirm that the new ARGOS platform has been specifically curated to enable AWD on the new Sierra. The fact that 35% buyers of the new Harrier EV are opting for the AWD version seems to have driven the brand towards making an AWD for the Sierra as well.
Earlier this year, Tata reintroduced the AWD tech with the launch of the Harrier EV, and now the Sierra will become the second SUV with this tech. Tata will launch the electric Sierra next year, which will come with the FWD and AWD options. It is after 5 years that the brand is reintroducing the AWD tech on its cars, since the Hexa AWD was the last model with the AWD that got discontinued in 2020.
The new-gen Sierra is going to compete with the toughest rivals, which include the top-selling car of India right now, i.e. the Hyundai Creta. Meanwhile, its competitors like Maruti Victoris offer AWD variants, which is why the brand is making AWD Sierra.
