Honda is silently working on various commuter-based electric motorcycle models. One such model is going to be a CD Dawn lookalike EV, whose patent details have recently leaked online. Check out all the details about it below.

Honda electric commuter motorcycle – What to expect?
The design patent of an unnamed Honda electric bike has surfaced from Australia. This very basic-looking EV takes its inspiration from the old-school conventional commuter motorcycles like the CD Dawn.
Interestingly, Honda has opted to electrify the conventional design, which hints at the brand’s cost-effective and affordable EV approach. Earlier in 2025, a similar design patent leaked that was based on the Shine commuter bike’s design.
Speaking of the design, it features drum brakes, spoke wheels (likely), telescopic front forks, conventional shockers at the rear, a dummy fuel tank with a charging lid positioned at the top, a tubular handlebar, and a single seat with a pillion rack to mount luggage. Even the round headlamp and the rectangular taillight design are very conventional.
But, the powertrain is equally interesting. It features a mid-mounted electric motor and a twin-battery pack with swappable design – something that Honda believes in firmly as the brand has been continuously working on the battery swapping tech, and a chain-driven final drivetrain.
As of now, Honda has not revealed any hints regarding its plans to introduce commuter electric models in India anytime soon. We suspect that it is a work in progress and the brand is likely to offer these commuter EVs internationally, including India in the future.
