Kia EV2 – What do we know so far?

Kia EV2

The upcoming EV2 is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform. The same 800-volt architecture is also used on the Kia EV6 and EV9 models, but the EV2 is likely to get a more cost-effective 400-volt setup.

As seen in the spy photos, the test car looks identical in silhouette to the concept model. Although the car is heavily camouflaged, the front design gets the unique ‘Open Eye’ LED headlamps with large vertical twin DRLs.

The side profile of the crossover is boxy, mimicking the Kia Syros to an extent. However, the rear-end image shows that it will get the same taillights as the concept model. Other visible details include the dual-tone alloy wheels and ADAS module.

Speaking of the battery setup, very scarce details are known as of now. But we can safely assume that with the help of the E-GMP platform, the EV2 will easily deliver a 400-450 km range in the real world.

Kia is also known to equip its cars with the best technology and features, and the same is expected for the EV2. Some of the advanced features that it will offer shall include the V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) charging.

The EV2 is scheduled for a global launch in February 2026. Its Indian debut is expected to take place in the second half of 2026. Pricing-wise, it will be positioned close to the Tata Nexon EV and the MG Windsor EV, which are also its competitors.

Our verdict

Kia’s electric portfolio is set to expand globally, as the company is developing various models. The EV2 will become the pivot product in the Korean carmaker’s electric vehicle lineup internationally.
