MG Hybrid SUV: Everything we know so far

MG Hybrid SUV

Just days after the news regarding MG bringing its hybrid SUV to India got leaked, the unnamed SUV has been spied for the first time in India. The completely camouflaged test car was shot closely, which has revealed some interesting details.

Since MG will position this SUV against the Mahindra XUV 7XO, this SUV will feature a bigger size. It is essentially a badge-engineered MG Starlight 560, and hence it measures 4.7 meters in length and has 2.8 meters of wheelbase, which makes it bigger than the XUV 7XO.

Meanwhile, the camouflaged test car bears a boxy design with SUV proportions. The front fascia has LED headlights with vertical design flow and a sculpted bumper. On the side, it features a strong shoulder line, while the rear gets an MPV-ish styling.

Powering this SUV is going to be a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid engine. The petrol engine standalone makes 104 bhp, while it features a 20.5 kWh battery that cumulatively offers 194 bhp and 230 Nm. It is also certified to offer 100 km of pure electric range in the global markets, whilst it has a top speed of 170 km/h.

On the inside, the Starlight 560 features a 7-seater layout with features like leather upholstery, soft-touch materials, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, Boss Mode, ambient lighting, wireless charging, rear AC, and more.

JSW MG is suspected to launch this new SUV in India later this year, or in early 2027. Since it will be positioned against the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Hyundai Alcazar, its pricing will be around Rs 20-25 lakh.
