Upcoming Triumph Bonneville 400 spotted testing once again

Key highlights

  • Triumph Bonneville 400 to be launched by September 2026
  • It will be based on the new 349cc motor
  • To get design inspiration from the bigger Bonneville models

Triumph has been undergoing a major shift. The British bike manufacturer, now operated by Bajaj in India, is working on a new 400 nameplate. The upcoming Bonneville 400, which is expected to arrive in India by late September 2026, has been spied testing once again.

What to expect from the Triumph Bonneville 400?

The upcoming Bonneville 400 will become Triumph’s most affordable Bonneville model on sale. It will be based on the newly introduced 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor, which was launched with the Speed and other models in India. This engine is essentially a downsized version of the 399cc engine that made its debut on the first Speed 400 model.

With that said, Triumph is most likely to introduce the 399cc version in the global market, while the Indian market will get the sub-350cc version to save on taxation as per the new GST 2.0 slabs. Apart from the engine, the test bike shows that the Bonneville 400 will look a lot more similar to the bigger Bonneville models. The rear design is similar to the Bonneville T120, as it gets a flat, comfortable seat, mid-controls for the rider, an LED taillight, round turn indicators, a tubular pillion grab handle, dual shockers, and spoked rims.

Moreover, the single-sided exhaust is also identical to the bigger Bonneville models. This means that Triumph’s focus will be on the looks and comfort, as this will be competing with the segment-leading Royal Enfield Bullet 350 when launched. In terms of features, we suspect that Triumph will keep it neo-retro. This means that it will get a semi-digital analogue instrument cluster, LED lights, a dual-channel ABS, switchable traction and ABS modes, etc.

With that said, the Bonneville 400 could be positioned somewhere between the Scrambler 400X and the Tracker 400. The expected pricing of the Bonneville 400 will be around Rs 2-2.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
