What to expect from the upcoming Triumph Speed Twin 1200?

Updated Triumph Speed Twin 1200

The latest spy shots of the Speed Twin 1200 test mule come directly from the UK, near Triumph’s headquarters. The spotted bike seems to be in its initial stages of development, but it does have substantial upgrades.

The first and immediate change to notice is the absence of the old dual-cradle frame. Triumph has updated the frame completely, with the engine now serving as a stress member of the chassis. This should improve the cornering abilities and high-speed behaviour of the bike, which the present model does mediocrely.

Moreover, the rear suspension has now graduated to a link-type monoshock setup, which again is a modern bit on this old-school bike. This setup is likely to be offered with preload adjustment, which will further enable the riders to adjust the bike as per their riding style.

Updated Triumph Speed Twin 1200

While the test bike looks raw, it does have the 17-inch alloys and the same dual-disc front brakes and a single-disc rear brake setup. The headlamp is still round, but it does have open wiring and no cowl for testing purposes.

Overall, we suspect that the design will not take a big leap ahead, but the bike underneath the skin is going to be all-new. Powering the updated model is likely to be the same 1200cc engine as on the current model, and the power output is also suspected to remain unaltered.

As of now, we believe there is still long time before a near-production test mule is spotted. Hence, the launch timeline of the updated model could be in 2027.
