The new Tayron R-Line will serve as Volkswagen India’s latest flagship model. It shares its underpinnings with the new Skoda Kodiaq, which is already on sale in India. Volkswagen has positioned it slightly above the CBU Tiguan R-Line, as it is priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it Rs 1.26 lakh more expensive than the Tiguan R-Line.

Design-wise, the Tayron R-Line features the latest styling traits of the VW. The nose has a sleek design with sharp LED projector headlights, a sleek grille with the VW logo, and a curvy bumper with a big lower grille. On the side profile, it has a crossover-like design with the sharp dual-tone R19 alloy wheels and curvy body panels. The rear design is dominated by a set of connected LED lights, an optional illuminated VW logo, and a streamlined lower portion with curvy aesthetics.

On the inside, it features a premium cabin experience that offers leather upholstery and soft-touch leather on the dashboard and door pads. The minimalist dashboard design is accentuated by the three-spoke steering wheel, a digital instrument console, and a large 15-inch infotainment screen with wireless connectivity and wireless charging.

Other crucial feature highlights of the Tayron R-Line include the ‘R’ badges on the seats, door sills, centre console, ambient lights, panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, a tri-zone automatic climate control, electric seat adjustment with ventilation, and more.

Powering the Tayron R-Line is the tried and tested 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that makes 201bhp and 320Nm power and torque, respectively. It is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and a 4MOTION AWD system, along with selectable driving modes and traction modes.

With that said, it is one of the quickest SUVs in its segment as it does 0-100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds. Additionally, it will compete with the diesel rivals with only one engine option, which is a turbo petrol. This shall give VW a leverage in Delhi NCR where diesel cars sell less due to the NGT regulations.
