Everything we know about the upcoming Volkswagen compact SUV
As per a recent media report, Volkswagen is developing a new compact SUV for the Indian market. This compact SUV, which is unnamed as of now, will be launched next year, and it will be positioned below the Taigun.
This does not come as a surprise to us, because Volkswagen is likely to use the same platform, which is the MQB-AO-IN, as the Skoda Kylaq. Moreover, this small SUV will use the same 1.0 TSI three-cylinder turbo engine as the Kylaq. However, the higher possibility is that it will be paired with an 8-speed (AQ300) automatic transmission, which recently debuted on the Skoda Kushaq facelift
With that said, the whole design and interior layout of the VW’s iteration will be completely different from the Kylaq. It will focus on the current design language followed by the Volkswagen models internationally.
We suspect that the new VW compact SUV will also debut a CNG option in the future, as Skoda has recently unveiled its plans of introducing a CNG powertrain in the Kylaq. However, this is an estimated as of now, and we certainly can not comment concretely util the official statement comes from the brand.
