White MG Hector spotted at dealership ahead of launch

Key highlights

  • A white MG Hector has been spotted at a dealership before the December 15 launch.
  • The SUV appears fully production-ready with no camouflage.
  • Changes are expected to focus on features and tech rather than a major design overhaul.

JSW MG Motor India is all set to launch the updated MG Hector and Hector Plus on December 15. This is going to be mid-life facelift for the SUV in India. The cars have started reaching dealerships already and there is a picture of a White MG Hector doing rounds of the internet.

What we know

The MG Hector has been famous for its large front grille and the new update seems to sport the same. This time, the design on the grille has been slightly changed though. MG has replaced the studded design for a large honey-comb pattern which honestly looks better than the previous one. There is still a lot of chrome used, which makes the car more flashier than ever before.

The headlamp cluster and the fog lamp unit seem to be unchanged. However, there are notable differences on the bumper which now looks completely redesigned.

What to expect

We do not expect a lot of changes to the side panels. The SUV might get redesigned alloys and some added elements to the side panels. The rear also will sport a fresh look if we are to go by the teasers released by MG. We can also expect updated interiors along with added features to the tech package MG has to offer.

In terms if the powertrain, expect no changes. The Hector and the Hector Plus will spot the same 1.5 L turbo petrol motor that produces 140 hp and 250 Nm mated to a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed DCT or a CVT transmission. There is also a 2.0 L diesel motor on offer that produces 171 hp and 350 Nm mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. MG might surprise us with a 7-speed DCT for the diesel which has been missing in the Hector line-up since its launch.

Launch timeline

The Hector and the Hector Plus are set to be launched on December 15 and dealers are already taking unofficial bookings. We can expect a slight increase in the price tag of the Hector series by INR 25,000 to INR 50,000 for the updated models.
