Yamaha FZ Rave launched at INR 1.17 lakh

Key highlights

  • Yamaha launches the new FZ-Rave at INR 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
  • Powered by the familiar 149cc single-cylinder engine with 12.2 PS output.
  • Gets all-new styling, LED projector headlamp, and dual-disc brakes with ABS.

Yamaha has launched the FZ-Rave, a new addition to its popular 150cc lineup, priced at INR 1,17,218 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It’s built for riders who want a balance of style, agility, and everyday usability without burning a hole in their wallet.

Design and Styling

At first glance, the FZ-Rave looks sharper and more purposeful than its siblings. It borrows heavily from Yamaha’s premium FZ family, sporting a bold full-LED projector headlamp with integrated position lights, a sculpted fuel tank with faux vents, and a short, stubby exhaust that screams streetfighter.

The overall stance is muscular yet compact, giving the bike a commanding presence without feeling bulky. The single-piece seat ensures comfort on longer rides, while the sharp tail lamp completes the aggressive rear profile. Yamaha offers the bike in Matte Titan and Metallic Black, two shades that perfectly blend street appeal with subtle sophistication.

Engine and Performance

The FZ-Rave is powered by the tried-and-tested 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, producing 12.2 PS of power. It’s paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

While it’s not a fire-breather, the FZ-Rave focuses on real-world performance. Acceleration is linear, throttle response is crisp, and fuel efficiency remains one of the best in class. It’s the kind of bike that makes weekday commutes feel effortless and weekend rides satisfying.

Hardware and Features

The FZ-Rave doesn’t skimp on essentials. It comes with single-channel ABS, front and rear disc brakes, and a 13-litre fuel tank enough to keep you going on those longer runs without frequent fuel stops.

Weighing just 136 kg (kerb), it’s light on its feet and easy to maneuver through traffic. Yamaha has also fine-tuned the suspension for a balance of comfort and control, making it as friendly for new riders as it is engaging for experienced ones.

Adding to the tech quotient, the LED projector setup ensures excellent visibility at night, while the design’s sharp edges and premium finish reflect Yamaha’s attention to detail.

Market Position

The FZ series has always been one of Yamaha’s strongest performers in India, with over 2.75 million units sold to date. The new FZ-Rave builds on that success by appealing directly to younger riders, those who want style, reliability, and the Yamaha badge at a reasonable price point.

It slots neatly between commuter-friendly 150cc bikes and premium naked offerings, making it a versatile choice for both first-time buyers and daily riders looking for a little flair.
