Yamaha YE-01: Everything you need to know
The YE-01 motocross bike looks a lot like the Yamaha YZ450F dirt bike, and why now because it uses the same frame. Yamaha has joined hands with the French Electric Motion, a brand that is known for developing electric trials motorcycles since 2009.
The YE-01 not only uses the same chassis as the YZ450F, but also carries over the identical hardware. While Yamaha has not revealed the details regarding its powertrain or hardware, it did say that the battery and the electric motor have been positioned in a way that gives the exact feel of a reverse head engine that is used on the YZ series dirt bikes.
Accentuating the ICE feel of a dirt bike further, it gets a hydraulic clutch that helps the rider to shift between different power modes and manually control the power delivery. Yamaha claims that it is equally powerful as its ICE counterparts, hinting at power levels around the YZ450F itself.
Yamaha is set to participate in the MXEP category in the upcoming FIM Motocross World Championship. This way, it will not only test its real performance, but also showcase the bike all across Europe to set a base for the new EV motocross customers.
Other details include a slim bodywork, a single seat, block-pattern mud-terrain tyres, spoke rims, a USD front suspension and a monoshock spring at the rear with complete adjustability for both, chain-drive system, disc brakes on both ends, a carbon fiber bash plate, etc.
We believe that more details regarding the hardware and battery specs are likely to be revealed around the next FIM Motocross World Championship.
