2026 Volkswagen Taigun launched at Rs 10.99 lakh

Key highlights

  • Prices now start at Rs 10.99 lakh, keeping it competitive in the segment
  • Subtle feature updates across variants with improved value proposition
  • Continues with the same turbo-petrol engine options

Volkswagen India has launched the 2026 Taigun in India at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). At first glance, it may look like business as usual. But dig a little deeper, and you’ll notice that this update focuses on making the Taigun a smarter buy rather than a flashier one.

Familiar design, still sharp

Volkswagen has resisted the temptation to mess with the Taigun’s clean and upright design. The SUV still looks crisp, well-proportioned, and slightly more mature than some of its louder rivals.

That said, expect minor cosmetic tweaks depending on the variant. New colour options and subtle trim changes help keep things fresh without shouting for attention.

Feature list gets more sensible

Volkswagen has redistributed features across variants to make the lineup easier to understand. More importantly, some of the previously top-end features now trickle down to lower trims. That should make mid-spec variants a lot more attractive for buyers.

You still get the usual highlights like a touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, ventilated seats, and a digital instrument cluster on higher trims. Safety remains a strong suit, with six airbags, ESC, and a solid build continuing as standard or widely available.

Variant-wise pricing

Here is the complete variant-wise pricing:

  • Taigun Comfortline MT – Rs 10.99 lakh
  • Taigun Highline MT – Rs 12.69 lakh
  • Taigun Highline AT – Rs 13.79 lakh
  • Taigun Highline-Plus MT – Rs 14.29 lakh
  • Taigun Highline-Plus AT (8-Speed) – Rs 15.44 lakh
  • Taigun GT Line MT – Rs 14.59 lakh
  • Taigun GT Line AT (8-Speed) – Rs 15.74 lakh
  • Taigun Topline MT – Rs 15.99 lakh
  • Taigun Topline AT (8-Speed) – Rs 17.17 lakh
  • Taigun GT Plus Chrome DSG – Rs 18.99 lakh
  • Taigun GT Plus Sport DSG – Rs 19.29 lakh

Same engines, no nonsense

Mechanically, nothing changes. The Taigun continues with its proven turbo-petrol lineup.

You get:

  • 1.0-litre TSI that produces 115 PS and 170 Nm mated to a 6-speed manual or the new 8-speed automatic
  • 1.5-litre TSI that produces 150 PS and 250 Nm mated to 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG and equipped with the cylinder deactivation tech.

Positioning and rivals

The Taigun continues to take on the usual suspects like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Maruti Grand Vitara.

With this update, Volkswagen is clearly trying to sharpen the value angle. The idea is simple: offer more where it matters, without messing with the fundamentals.
