What to expect from the Triumph Bonneville 400?
Triumph has been silently working on its new low-capacity Bonneville model. After being spied in the UK, a near-production guise unit of the Bonneville 400 has been spotted in Maharashtra.
Speaking of the details, it is likely to carry the iconic retro design language from the bigger Bonneville sibling models. The pre-production unit boasts a retro outlook with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank that has an offset filler cap and thigh guards.
Meanwhile, the engine casing is finished in brushed aluminium, reminiscent of the bigger Bonneville models. Similarly, it gets the spoke rims and dual shock absorbers at the rear.
Moreover, the single seat, a twin-tubular pillion grab handle and a sculpted rear fender with the oval turn indicators look similar to the Bonneville design language. Interestingly, it does not get a twin-pod cluster, but it has an offset positioned with a fully digital instrument console.
Since the other Triumph 400 models come with a semi-digital console, this unit is likely to replace the former in the future. It is also likely to get more features like ride modes, traction modes, etc.
Powering the Bonneville 400 is likely to be the newly introduced 349.13cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which is essentially a downsized version of the outgoing 399cc unit. It will likely offer 36 bhp and 32 Nm, and the power delivery is likely to be torque-rich.
The Bonneville 400 will be launched in Q4 2026. It will rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350, which is the segment leader currently. The estimated launch price of the Bonneville 400 is Rs 2 lakh.
