What to expect from the 2027 Honda HR-V?

The HR-V is one of the most popular products of Honda worldwide. In fact, it has an upper hand in certain markets like Japan, the USA, and certain parts of Europe. The HR-V is known for its no-nonsense design and reliability. However, the last update it got was in 2021, and the brand is now readying its next-gen model.

The latest spy shot of the rear of the upcoming-gen HR-V has surfaced from Japan. The completely camouflaged test car’s silhouette has new design highlights. For example, the boot looks more vertical and upright, while the set of the new vertical LED taillights is partially visible. Similarly, the rear bumper has undergone a new design with the diagonal reflectors embedded on both sides.

Interestingly, the roof spoiler and the windscreen do not appear to have changed a lot. In addition, the rear wiper and washer are not visible, hinting that these are now re-positioned underneath the spoiler for a seamless design. Sadly, the latest spy shots do not include the front or side images, leaving us wondering about the changes.

Although we can expect that the front-end will also undergo similar updates, and the side profile will likely offer new alloys and mirrors with slight changes to the fender and body line. In a similar fashion, the interior layout will also be upgraded with new features and more premium upholstery.

Honda is also reported to be working on a hybrid powertrain for the next-gen HR-V. This is reported to be a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with the e:HEV technology. Honda is likely to mate this engine with a S+ Shift gearbox for high fuel efficiency and performance.

The new-gen HR-V is likely to be introduced next year. It is highly unlikely to come to India.
