Powering the new Polo Edition 50 is the tried and tested 1.0L TSI, three-cylinder motor. This engine is available in two states of tune: a 95 bhp and 175 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT; or a 116 bhp and 200 Nm, mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

While the Polo Edition 50 is available in the UK and other European markets, the return of this hatchback is still a dream for its Indian fans.

Our verdict

The Polo Edition 50 offers a touch of uniqueness and pride of owning a hatchback moniker that has lasted 50 years in the automotive world. However, it only offers cosmetic upgrades and not any specific performance upgrades as compared to the standard Polo.
