Key highlights
- KTM India absorbs the full GST 2.0 impact on its 390cc range, keeping prices unchanged.
- RC 390, Duke 390, and Adventure 390 continue to retail between INR 3.39 lakh and INR 3.60 lakh.
- Bajaj Auto backs KTM’s decision to protect affordability and maintain brand momentum.
In a move that’s earned nods across the riding community, KTM India has decided to absorb the full impact of the revised GST structure on its 390cc lineup. That means no price hike for the RC 390, Duke 390, or Adventure 390 even though the new GST slab technically pushes their tax burden higher.
The decision comes as part of Bajaj Auto’s broader strategy to protect KTM’s value proposition in India. With the GST 2.0 rollout shifting mid-size performance bikes into a higher tax bracket, most brands are recalibrating prices. KTM, however, is holding firm.
What stays the same
Here’s how the 390cc range stacks up post-GST:
Model |
Price (INR , ex-showroom) |
RC 390 |
INR 3,39,000 |
Duke 390 |
INR 3,39,000 |
Adventure 390 |
INR 3,60,000 |
All three models retain their mechanical specs:
- 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine
- 43.5 PS and 37 Nm torque
- 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and quickshifter
- Ride-by-wire, dual-channel ABS, and TFT display
The Adventure 390 also gets switchable ABS, traction control, and long-travel suspension for off-road duties.
Why this matters
GST 2.0 has restructured tax slabs across the auto sector. Mid-size petrol bikes above 350cc now attract a higher effective tax rate, which should’ve pushed prices up by INR 10,000–INR 15,000. KTM’s decision to absorb this cost signals a clear intent: keep the bikes accessible, keep the brand aspirational.
Bajaj Auto, which manufactures KTM bikes in India, has confirmed that it will not pass on the tax hike to customers. Instead, it will adjust internal margins and streamline costs to offset the impact.
