What is the Yamaha NMAX 155 Tech MAX YECVT?
Yamaha’s NMAX 155 is a popular maxi scooter worldwide. Known for its peppy performance, the scooter has always been a hoot to ride.
However, the brand has now introduced a heavily updated transmission for it, called YECVT. This new transmission features radical design changes that lead to semi-automatic control of the gearbox as per the requirement.
Speaking of the details, this new transmission allows the rider to manually engage lower gear ratios by a ‘downshift’ button on the left side of the handle. This feature is also auto-engaged by selecting the two ride modes: Town and Sports.
In the Town mode, the scooter engages lower gear ratios that help in increasing peppiness and fuel economy. Meanwhile, the Sports mode engages higher gear ratios and also increases the engine breaking.
The manual downshift button also allows the rider to make quick overtakes when needed, while also allowing more engine breaking that is useful in conditions like downhill riding.
The new NMAX 155 continues to be powered by the 155cc, liquid-cooled engine that offers 14.9 bhp of peak power. Sadly, this maxi scooter is not going to be launched in India anytime soon.
