Nissan Gravite set for January 2026 launch

Key highlights

  • Nissan Gravite is scheduled to launch in January 2026
  • It will sit in the compact MPV space and target high volume rivals
  • Gravite plays a key role in Nissan’s India revival plan

Nissan has finally put a timeline to one of its most important upcoming products for India. The Nissan Gravite will launch in January 2026. This will be Nissan’s second car in it’s lean portfolio which currently has only the Magnite.

What is the Gravite?

The Gravite is expected to be a compact MPV developed with India and other emerging markets in mind. Nissan has stayed quiet on final specifications, but the intent is clear. This will be a high volume model. Let’s just say, it is the Nissan variant of the Renault Triber.

Design

Design will be a big talking point. Early teasers and internal references suggest a sharp, modern SUV with strong road presence. Expect upright proportions, a wide stance, and plenty of visual muscle. Nissan knows that looking safe does not sell anymore. The Gravite will need to turn heads in showroom parking lots. That part seems well understood.

Power unit

Under the skin, the Gravite is likely to use a familiar platform from the Renault Nissan alliance. This helps keep costs in check and speeds up development. Engine options should be the same as the Triber at launch. A turbo petrol option is almost a given.

Interior

Inside, expect a modern cabin with a strong focus on space and tech. A large touchscreen, digital driver display, wireless smartphone connectivity, and connected car features should be part of the package. Safety will also be under the spotlight. Multiple airbags, stability control, and advanced driver assistance features could be offered on higher variants.

Pricing will be crucial. The compact SUV segment is crowded and unforgiving. One wrong move and buyers simply scroll to the next option.

For Nissan India, the Gravite is more than just another SUV. It represents a fresh start. The brand has stayed quiet for too long, and patience runs thin in this market. Gravite needs to deliver on design, value, and driving feel. Excuses will not cut it anymore.
