Mahindra sold 5.81 lakh units – Hyundai losing its charm?
According to the data published on the Vahan Portal, Mahindra and Mahindra has sold 5.81 lakh units in 2025. This number has pushed the brand to the second-largest carmaker position in India, as it replaced Hyundai.
Hyundai’s long-term legacy as the second-largest carmaker slipped to fourth as the Korean brand sold 5.50 lakh units in 2025. Meanwhile, Tata Motors stepped ahead of Hyundai by selling 5.52 lakh units.
As far as Mahindra is concerned, the first 11 months of 2025 witnessed 5,74,657 unit sales for the brand, which led to 18% year-on-year growth. The best-sellers for the brand were the Scorpio N and the Scorpio Classic, which were followed by the Thar moniker.
Thar has become the second best-seller for the brand, with 65% Thar sales comprising the 5-Door model, aka Roxx. Meanwhile, 7% sales, out of the total, consisted of the Born Electric cars, including the BE 6 and the XEV 9E.
