Updated and more powerful engine
Powering the new Tiger Sport 660 and the Trident 660 is a substantially upgraded 660cc inline-three liquid-cooled engine. The updated engine now provides 94 bhp of peak power, which is a significant 14 bhp upgrade from the previous version. Additionally, the peak torque has now increased to 68 Nm. Interestingly, the engine now makes 80% of peak torque from as low as 3,000 rpm, while the redline has increased to 12,650 rpm – making it more versatile and punch-packed than ever.
As per the details, the previous engine had a single throttle body, which has been replaced by three throttle bodies of 44 mm. These are positioned at each individual cylinder head, while the bigger air intake box now offers more breathing power. Meanwhile, the reworked cylinder head, high-lift cam profile, and larger exhaust valves now offer more power.
In addition, the cooling system has been improved with a bigger radiator fan that has been repositioned for better air flow. Furthermore, the exhaust has a new 3-in-1 header with a revised catalyst and a new underbelly exhaust can for improved air outlet. The 6-speed transmission now features the revised shafts, revised gear ratios, and a recalibrated shift-assist function.
2026 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 changes
The new Tiger Sport 660 now comes loaded with a bigger 18.6-litre fuel tank for improved highway range. Additionally, Triumph has embedded the new radiator cowls for better weather protection and an adjustable windscreen. Meanwhile, the rear suspension now gets a remote preload adjuster for easy luggage and pillion setup. Also, there are new colourways for improved visual appeal.
2026 Triumph Trident 660 changes
The naked roadster Trident 660 has also undergone significant changes in addition to the new paint scheme options. The prominent change is the new frame and a new Showa rear suspension with preload and rebound adjustment. The front end features 41 mm Show USD forks with 120 mm travel. This combined gives the new Trident a more planted and confident ride posture for ease of use.
Both updated motorcycles are likely to be launched in India in the coming months. We suspect that the new upgrades will also result in a cost increment.
