Maruti Suzuki Victoris becomes a hit – What makes it popular?
Maruti launched the Victoris in India last year in September. It is positioned as the flagship model in the brand’s Arena showroom range, which is followed by the Brezza. Based on the Grand Vitara’s platform, the Victoris offers more space for the rear passengers and an extended boot.
However, the primary reason behind its booming sales is the availability of a variety of engine options, including a CNG powertrain that offers a usable boot space, as it comes equipped with underbody CNG tanks, which is a first for a Maruti car.
As per the official sales data shared by Maruti, only 10,329 units of Victoris found buyers in FY2024-25. However, post the new GST 2.0 rate reforms, Victoris has found 21,155 buyers, nearly doubling the sales. Additionally, the brand has sold 15,240 units within January 2026, which further hints at the consistently climbing sales.
Speaking of the Victoris, it is more of an SUV-crossover, which focuses on the interior space and cabin experience. Available from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Victoris is offered with three engine options, including a 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre strong hybrid, and a 1.5-litre CNG. Buyers can also opt for an all-wheel drive on the select trims.
