MG IM6: Everything to know about it
The IM6, aka Intelligent Mobility, was formed in 2020 by SAIC Motors, Alibaba, and R&D engineers of Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. The IM6 is a crossover SUV that features a fluidic design and comes loaded with a powerful battery pack and an advanced electric architecture.
As per an online report, MG India will launch the IM6 by October 2026. It is destined to be sold via MG Select dealerships, which currently have two cars – the Cyberster and M9. It will be imported and sold as a CBU, and its cost is expected to be around Rs 60 lakh, which will place it against the Tesla Model Y in India.
MG displayed the production model of the IM6 in India during the Auto Expo 2025. It gathered a lot of eyeballs and queries, which have probably pushed the brand to consider and launch the EV in India later this year.
The IM6 uses an advanced 800V architecture, which is packed with a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It develops 408 bhp and 500 Nm of power and torque on the RWD variants, and 778 bhp on the AWD variants. The RWD version offers a CLTC-claimed range of 555 km, while the AWD version offers 505 km of approved range.
The key exterior design highlights include the fluidic, swoopy body panels with L-shaped LED headlights, aerodynamic 20-inch wheels, and a ducktail boot design with a connected LED light setup.
On the inside, it packs a 26.3-inch panoramic full-width display with augmented reality HUD, a 10.5-inch vertical screen for HVAC and other controls, LiDAR and ADAS safety module, and leather seats with features like memory function, ventilation, wireless charging, multiple-zone climate control, and more.
Internationally, it competes with the BYD Sealion 7, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
