- Yamaha MT-125 next-generation model revealed
- Indian-spec MT-15 likely to receive similar updates in the future
- MT-125 makes 14.5 bhp and 11.5 Nm
Yamaha has recently revealed the new generation of the MT-125 street naked sports bike in the global market. While the MT-125 is not bound for India, its design and styling upgrades are likely to arrive as the MT-15 V2 update.
What has changed on the new Yamaha MT-125?

With the recent update, Yamaha has redesigned and aligned the MT-125 more with the bigger MT models like the MT-07 and MT-09. The 125cc naked sports bike now features a taller profile. All thanks to the redesigned fuel tank, a new seat, and the new riding posture.

Moreover, the fuel tank shrouds have also received new textured updates. Meanwhile, the front fascia now packs a new cowl with a sharp Y-shaped design. Highlighting the front are the new split LED daytime running lights and the telescopic forks, which give it a tall appearance. The redesigned riding posture now gives the rider an upright seating position in traffic.
Yamaha has also added a new Redline White colour that gets the contrasting alloy wheels and graphics. The other colourway options include the Ice Storm, Icon Blue, and Tech Black.
On the mechanical front, the new MT-125 is unaltered. Its Deltabox frame continues as it is, and it is powered by the 125cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine offers 14.5 bhp and 11.5 Nm, and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-assist clutch.
Same changes likely to come for MT-15 in India?
The MT-125 does not make financial sense for the Indian market. However, Yamaha sells its close sibling, the MT-15 V2, in the domestic market. Since both models are closely aligned, we suspect that the next update for the MT-15 V2 could arrive with the same design updates as the new MT-125.
