What to expect from the upcoming Wuling Starlight 560?
Wuling is a known Chinese car manufacturer, and it has been testing its Starlight 560 SUV in India for a while now. This upcoming plug-in hybrid SUV has once again been spotted on the road as it is likely to be launched later this year.
JSW MG will bring the Starlight 560 in India under a new nameplate and slight modifications to its design and badge. However, the car will remain dimensionally and technically unaltered. Moreover, JSW MG had recently homologated its design in India.
The Starlight 560 will be offered in 5- and 7-seater variants, and it will be positioned against the Mahindra XUV7XO. It is identical in size and comes loaded with a conventional yet futuristic design. The exterior shape of the Starlight 560 embeds the likes of sharp LED headlights, retractable door handles, and a boxy design.
On the inside, it features a comfortable cabin layout draped in leather upholstery and equipped with features like a floating infotainment screen, a digital instrument console, a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS, a 540-degree camera, an electric tailgate, and more.
Internationally, it comes with two engine options: a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox, offering 174.2 bhp, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol plug-in hybrid engine that develops 194.3 bhp and 230 Nm.
The latter of these is expected to be launched in India, and it can deliver a maximum range of more than 800 km. Meanwhile, a pure electric version equipped with a 56.7 kWh battery pack is also on the cards.
JSW MG India is likely to launch the Starlight 560 by the festive season later this year. We expect its pricing to be around Rs 25 lakh.
