Suzuki GSX-8R: A perfect middleweight sports tourer?
Suzuki’s GSX-8R packs an aggressive and bulky design with a committed riding posture that has a slightly relaxed profile. The GSX-8R competes with the likes of the Honda CBR650R and the Triumph Daytona 660. The biggest USP of the GSX-8R is its 776cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that offers a meaty mid-range punch. The relaxed nature and tuning of this engine make it a comfortable tourer as well as a comfortable commuter motorcycle.
Speaking of the specifications, the GSX-8R offers 81.8 bhp and 78 Nm of peak power and torque outputs, respectively. This engine is paired with a slick 6-speed gearbox that gets a bidirectional quickshifter and comes with a slipper clutch as standard equipment.
In terms of features, the bike gets a 5-inch coloured TFT instrument console that offers Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, LED lights, three ride modes (Mode A, Mode B, Mode C), ride-by-wire, low RPM assist to avoid stalling, Suzuki Easy Start system, and a 4-level traction control system that offers supreme grip and handling.
The GSX-8R is based on a steel backbone frame that is paired with an aluminium swingarm. The bike uses the USD front suspension and a monoshock rear suspension setup, while it rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. Braking duties are covered by a dual 310 mm front disc brake setup and a single disc brake at the rear, both combined with a dual-channel ABS.
