Baby Bonnie Is coming, more details revealed

Key Highlights

  • The Triumph Bonneville 400 is expected to launch in India in September 2026.
  • It will complete Triumph’s 400cc lineup alongside the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X.
  • The engine is a 349cc liquid-cooled unit tuned specifically for low and mid-range torque.

The Triumph Speed 400 changed how India looked at the British brand. The Scrambler 400 X followed. Then came the Thruxton 400 and Triumph is already preparing for the next. The Bonneville 400 is expected to land in India in September 2026, and new details are beginning to emerge about what to expect.

The Engine

The Bonneville 400 will use the same 349cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that powers the Thruxton 400, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. But it will not be the same tune.

Triumph is expected to remap the engine specifically for the Bonneville’s character. The focus is on building torque lower in the rev range. More pull in the low and mid-range, fewer gear changes in the city, and a more relaxed, unhurried riding experience overall. This is how the bigger Bonneville T100 and T120 feel relative to the sportier Triumphs, and the 400 version is expected to follow the same philosophy.

The gearbox is a six-speed unit, carried over from the rest of the 400 family.

Accessories

This is where the Bonneville 400 could really stand out from its siblings. Triumph is developing an extensive accessories catalogue specifically for it, drawing inspiration from the larger Bonneville range.

Expected accessories include a touring fly screen, bench-style seat, touring seat, bar-end mirrors, a rear backrest, and waxed leather saddlebags. Chrome-finished parts and engine protection guards are also likely. This gives buyers the option to personalise the bike significantly from day one, which is very much in keeping with the classic Bonneville ownership experience.

Positioning and Price

Within Triumph’s own lineup, the Bonneville traditionally sits below the Speed and Scrambler variants. Expect the same hierarchy with the 400s. Simpler cycle parts and the more relaxed engine tune justify a lower price point.

Expected pricing is under Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom). At that price, it will go head-to-head with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The Bonneville 400’s authentic British classic styling and larger proportions should make that a very interesting fight.
