New-generation Toyota Hilux spotted in India during an ad shoot

Key highlights

  • 2026 Toyota Hilux spotted during a TVC ad shoot
  • India launch possible later this year
  • It is offered with petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains globally

Toyota fans rejoice. The Japanese car manufacturer seems to be in the process of bringing the latest, new-generation Hilux to India. The new-gen Hilux was recently spotted undisguised in Aerocity, Delhi, where it was being used for a TVC ad shoot.

The ad shoot makes us believe that Toyota is planning to introduce the new-gen Hilux in India sometime later this year. Mind you, the Indian market still gets the MY25 Hilux, while the global market was updated with the new-gen model earlier this year.

Talking about the new-gen Hilux, it features a completely redesigned exterior and interior. On the outside, it features a bold and more upright stance with modern body panels and sharp LED headlights. The bumper-integrated honeycomb grille and the sharp LED foglight inserts make it look modern in every sense.

The car seen here is draped in the beautiful Sulfur Metallic exterior paint, and it gets the flared wheel arches, black body cladding, black alloy wheels, and black mirrors. Although the rear is not visible in the spy shots, the global spec model features the sharp C-shaped LED taillights and Toyota lettering on the tailgate.

Another big update on the 2026 Hilux is on the inside. It features a modern cabin layout, with a new three-spoke steering wheel, similar to the Land Cruiser, a digital driver console, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and features like wireless charging, ventilated seats, ADAS, and a 360-degree view camera.

The new-gen Hilux is based on an all-new platform, which makes it suitable for ICE, hybrid, and electric powertrain use. Globally, it gets the 2.8-litre diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol engine, while a pure electric version is also on sale in select markets. The electric Hilux features a 59.2 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 240 km.

When will it launch in India?

Toyota has been notably stubborn in bringing new models to India quickly. However, considering the fact that the current Hilux has been on sale for a long time, and it sells in decent figures, Toyota might bring the new Hilux soon. But we can not confirm it as the brand has not given a hint regarding the Hilux for a long time. Even if it comes, it won’t be anytime before early 2027 that we get to see it on the Indian roads.
