Key highlights
- An unknown Hero commuter bike design patented
- It looks similar to the Hero Hunter 125 sold in Nigeria
- Engine layout looks identical to the HF Deluxe
A latest design patent leak of an unknown Hero commuter motorcycle has piqued our interest. The retro-looking old-school and basic commuter design resembles the Hero Hunter 125, which is a popular basic commuter bike sold in the African market.
While Hero MotoCorp has not announced any plans to launch a new affordable commuter model, this design patent says otherwise. The reason behind this bike’s making it to the production line could be its HF Deluxe-sourced engine.
While it looks similar to the Huner 125, a closer look at the engine reveals the ‘Sloper’ engine design, which is used on the Splendor and the HF Deluxe models. Moreover, the design patent has a dual-pod instrument cluster, which makes it different from the Hunter 125.
Now we can not go ahead assuming everything, but it is surely clear that a new commuter model could be on the cards. Moreover, Hero has recently launched its flex fuel bikes in India, and this could use the same flex fuel engine to target the last-mile delivery services and other services that require rugged motorcycles with low running costs.
For now, there is no official information regarding such a motorcycle, but if the plans are serious to launch it, Hero could reveal the information regarding it in the coming months.
