Mahindra has recently patented the design of the Vision T concept-based SUV. The unnamed SUV has been patented under the passenger vehicle category, which further clarifies that it will hit the mass market soon.
Mahindra Vision T: What do we know so far?
As visible, the Vision T design patent is almost identical to the concept car showcased last year. In fact, it uses every design bit from the concept vehicle, including the squared-off flared fenders, wide all-terrain tyres, a small loading bay with roll bars, a boxy design with a horizontal grille and squared-off LED lights, and protruding side mirrors.
Now Mahindra has not revealed any details about it, but last year at the unveiling of a multiple set of concept vehicles, Mahindra’s officials said that the Vision T is soon going to enter the testing phase, and it could look like the concept version. We feel that the latter is true since the design patent is also identical to the concept version.
We are focusing again and again on its design being similar to the concept, because if it is launched, it will become one of the most uniquely styled SUVs in India. All Mahindra needs to do is put a powerful engine in it and offer it with multiple configurations, including 4WD. Since it will be based on the NU_IQ platform, the production-spec Vision T could get a hybrid engine option in the future, and maybe a pure electric version too. Fingers crossed!
Mahindra has already announced that the Vision S, T, XT, and SXT models will enter production phase next year. This means that the Vision T production SUV will be revealed in the next 12 months.
