Honda’s upcoming middleweight cruiser bike, the Rebel 500, is all set to be launched in India. The brand has commenced its pre-bookings through the BigWing dealerships nationwide, and now its price has leaked on the BigWing Bengaluru website.
As listed on the official website, the Rebel 500 cruiser will be priced at Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom) in Bengaluru. This places it above the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, which happens to be its potential rival if we compare the specifications and the segment of both bikes.
The Rebel 500 was shown recently at a grand Honda two-wheeler event, which also displayed 9 new two-wheelers alongside. Interestingly, the official website shows that the Rebel 500 will be offered in a single colour option: Matte Gunpowder Metallic Black.
The Rebel 500 is a cruiser-bobber crossover motorcycle that features a low-slung design with a front-set upright handlebar and mid-controls for a relaxed riding experience. Since it is a neo-retro bike, it boasts highlights like an oval LED headlight, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a scooped rider seat, and curvy fenders.
The feature list on the Rebel 500 includes oval LED lights, oval LED turn signal indicators, a negative LCD fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, traction control, dual-channel ABS, a USB charger slot for charging the phone, and more.
Powering the Rebel 500 is a 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that makes 46 bhp and 43.3 Nm of peak power and torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch as standard. This engine is reported to be tuned for strong low-end torque and punch-packed mid-range power and performance that is optimal for cruising on the highway.
Since the Rebel 500 will be a CKD, it has been priced considerably lower than the previous version, which was priced for Rs 6.26 lakh (on-road, Delhi). Honda is expected to launch the Rebel 500 officially in the coming days.
