A latest online report claims that Bentley dealerships in India have begun accepting orders for the Bentayga SUV at a lower price due to the India-UK FTA deal. The exact price drop is yet to be announced, but the report projects a major price reduction of around Rs 1.70 crore.
Bentley Bentayga prices slashed? India-UK FTA deal benefit
The India-UK FTA deal came into effect recently, which drops the import duty on the vehicles manufactured completely in the UK. However, the catch is that hybrid cars are not included in this deal, which leaves the majority of Bentley’s current range deprived of the price benefit in India. Meanwhile, the Bentayga SUV is the only Bentley model that clears all sanctions of the new FTA deal.
Hence, Bentley dealerships in India have commenced accepting orders for the new Bentayga at a lower price. The price drop can be as high as Rs 1.70 crore, as the import tax gets reduced to 30 per cent from 110 per cent under the new FTA deal. With that said, the new rates for the Bentayga could be Rs 3.75 crore (estimated) for the Short Wheelbase variant and Rs 4.20 crore (estimated) for the Long Wheelbase variant.
Meanwhile, the lower tariff cut is only applicable on the models above 2,500cc, and only 10,000 units are allowed to be imported under the new FTA deal. Hence, the other models in Bentley’s lineup that clear under the FTA deal are the Continental Supersports and the Bentayga Speed. The latter was launched in India a few months ago.
On the other hand, cars like the Continental Flying Spur, Continental GT, and GT S come with plug-in hybrid technology, which does not get relaxation under the FTA import deal. Additionally, only a handful of units of the Bentayga will be brought under the reduced prices. The exact price reduction is yet to be announced by the brand.
