Hero MotoCorp appears to be preparing an update for the Xtreme 125R, and the new images of the motorcycle have been spotted on the internet ahead of its official launch.
The updated Xtreme 125R gets a TFT instrument cluster, while a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is also expected to be part of the new equipment list.
Hero has not officially announced the launch date or pricing yet, so the motorcycle’s appearance at a dealership suggests that the updated version could reach showrooms soon.
TFT display is the big change
The current Xtreme 125R already gets a digital instrument cluster, but the new version takes things up a notch with a TFT display.
This should give Hero more scope to present information in a cleaner and more premium format. It also brings the Xtreme 125R closer to motorcycles in the segment that are increasingly using larger, colour displays and connected features.
The other important addition is TPMS. The system monitors tyre pressures and alerts the rider if pressure drops below the recommended level.
For a motorcycle aimed at everyday use, this is actually a useful feature rather than just something to add to the brochure.
No major mechanical changes expected
The images do not point towards any significant mechanical changes. The Xtreme 125R is currently powered by Hero’s 124.7 cc, single-cylinder engine, which produces 11.4 bhp and 10.5Nm. The motor is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle also uses a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, while braking hardware varies depending on the variant.
There is no indication that Hero plans to alter the engine or chassis with this update. The focus appears to be on making the Xtreme 125R better equipped rather than more powerful.
Launch details still awaited
Hero MotoCorp has yet to officially reveal the updated Xtreme 125R. The photos, however, suggests that the motorcycle is fairly close to reaching customers. The company is also yet to announce the pricing and variant-wise equipment for the updated model.
