Mahindra has finally put a name to its much-awaited global pickup. The Global Pik Up, first shown as a concept in South Africa in 2023, has now been officially unveiled as the Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler for India.
The new pickup is scheduled to arrive in India by April 2027, with Mahindra confirming that prices will start below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
And yes, Mahindra is serious about the “Scorpio” connection. The Lifestyler is being positioned as a pickup that combines the toughness associated with the Scorpio name with the comfort and technology expected from a modern lifestyle vehicle.
Built for work and weekends
Mahindra says the Scorpio Lifestyler has been developed around its next-generation body-on-frame architecture.
The idea is to combine genuine pickup capability with the sort of comfort that makes the vehicle usable every day. Mahindra describes this philosophy rather neatly as being built for both “payload and playload”.
The pickup has been designed and developed in India, with the Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai handling the design and the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai responsible for development.
Mahindra is also positioning it as a genuinely global product. The Lifestyler will target markets including Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
Three versions, three personalities
Mahindra has showcased the pickup in three different expressions. The Valley Edition is the more lifestyle-oriented version, finished in Artemis Grey and aimed at buyers who want to balance work and leisure. The Reef Edition gets an Aquareef finish and is designed around the idea of outdoor exploration. Then there is the Trail Edition, finished in Sahara Beige. This is the one that leans hardest into the pickup’s go-anywhere character.
Mahindra hasn’t revealed the full technical specification yet, so details such as engine output, gearbox options, payload capacity, towing capacity and four-wheel-drive hardware will have to wait.
The pickup will launch in India by April 2027, and with the starting price promised below Rs 19.79 lakh, Mahindra could have a rather interesting proposition on its hands.
