Royal Enfield has launched a new special iteration of the Classic 350, called Gorkha Edition. The new Classic 350 Gorkha Edition has been inspired by the Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army, and it pays tribute to the regiment’s sacrifices and resilience.
Royal Enfield Classic 350 Gorkha Edition: What is special?
The newly launched Gorkha Edition comes draped in a special paint theme that matches the Gorkha Regiment’s attire and their legendary Khurki weapon. This new paint theme is called Gorkha Green, and it is finished in a matte profile.
To emphasise the Gorkha name, there are Gorkha Edition decals on the fuel tank and crossed Khurki decals on the side boxes, the latter taking inspiration from the regiment’s core weapon. Moreover, the bike comes with chrome-finished mirrors, brushed aluminium levers, a chrome engine and exhaust, and chrome spokes with black rims.
The Gorkha Edition is essentially a visual upgrade for customers who associate better with the brand’s history with the Indian Defence Forces. Mind you, Royal Enfield has been one of the Indian Army’s most trusted and long-term motorcycles that has seen multiple battles and office ferrying for Army personnel.
With that said, the Gorkha Edition does not feature any other updates. It retains the upright riding stance of the Classic 350 with the unique design. However, the Gorkha Edition comes with a single seat only, and the pillion seat needs to be bought as an option.
Powering it is the 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor that makes 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of power and torque. It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. In terms of specifications, the Classic 350 Gorkha Edition rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tyres, telescopic front suspension, and dual shock absorbers at the rear. It also gets dual-channel ABS.
Since it is a retro motorcycle, it gets a halogen headlamp, a small LCD placed below an analogue instrument console, and an optional Tripper navigation pod. While the company has not claimed it, we sense that it could be a limited-run model. Bookings are now open countrywide and deliveries are expected to commence soon.
