- Tata Motors announces a new price hike
- All models to undergo a price hike from September 1
- Maximum price hike will be up to Rs 25,000
Tata Motors has announced its third price hike for the entire range from next month. The carmaker announced that all models, including the ICE and EVs, will undergo a price hike from September 1, 2026.
Why are Tata cars becoming expensive?
According to the brand, this will be the third hike in 2026, with the first two price hikes taking place in April and July 2026, respectively. The upcoming price hike will be up to 0.5%, which will be up to Rs 25,000. Although the brand did not reveal the model-wise price hike, we suspect that it will be available soon at the dealerships.
The reason behind this price hike is cited as the rising input costs and sustained inflationary pressures that the brand has been bearing since July. However, the press release states that the brand will keep bearing the major costs itself, while it will minimise the impact on customers with the new price revision.
What’s coming ahead for Tata?
Tata is currently finalising the Safari EV, as the upcoming electric SUV is reaching the final stage of development. Online reports hint that Tata will launch the Safari EV by the Diwali festive season later this year.
The Safari EV will be based on the brand’s latest acti.ev+ platform, which is also shared with the Harrier EV. Moreover, the top-spec variants will offer the AWD configuration, which the ICE Safari misses out on.
Further, Tata is also working aggressively on the Avinya EV range. The Avinya EV was previously planned to launch in 2025, but it was delayed as the brand’s partnership with the Range Rover EV wing could not work out in Tamil Nadu.
Saving the day was Chery Automobile, which has recently introduced the new Freelander platform via the Freelander 8 SUV. Tata has collaborated with Chery to use its platform expertise to develop Avinya EV, which is now reported to debut later this year.
