- It is likely to be a generational update

The first-ever spy shots of the next-generation Nexon have surfaced online. The 2027-bound SUV was recently spotted in Pune with a major exterior design update. Tata is reported to be working on a heavily modified X1 platform for the new Nexon, which is also likely to improve the interior space and structural integrity of the SUV.
2027 Tata Nexon: What do we know so far?
The recently spotted test mule of the upcoming Nexon has our complete attention. This is most likely going to be the next-generation model, as we can see a major exterior design update.
The camouflaged test mule was spotted from the rear-quarter panel (left) side, showing a new rear door design, new A-, B-, and C-pillar design, and a new rear profile. The stance of the next-gen Nexon is also going to be more upright, as visible in the photo.
While we can not see the front, a faint look does showcase a new bonnet, and probably a new fascia with a new bumper. However, it is the side profile that makes it look all-new and positions it differently than the current model.
The rear door design has a bigger window glass, while the roofline is a bit flatter compared to the sloped roofline of the current model. This could mean one thing – the rear passengers will get more headroom.
Moreover, the rear profile packs a sporty roof-integrated spoiler, a raked windshield, and makeshift taillights from the current model, hinting that the rear design is still under development.
Tata has equipped it with the current generation’s alloy wheels, but these will be changed to the new wheels on the production-spec model. Moreover, the A-pillar is now more raked than the current model, while the front side glass area also looks to be bigger in size.
The test car is also using the flush door handles for a clean profile, and the mirrors have also been retained from the current model.
No engine changes are expected
While the new Nexon could use a heavily updated X1 platform, we believe that Tata will continue offering the same engine specs as the current model. These will include the petrol, CNG, and diesel engines with manual and automatic gearbox options.
New interior and features
Since the new model will gain a restructured design, the interior will also get a revamp. The major upgrade is likely to happen for the rear passengers with improved space and headroom.
Meanwhile, Tata is likely to offer a completely redesigned dashboard, a new steering wheel, a new connected screen display, and new-gen features like AI-assisted commands, Gemini AI integration, and more.
The new-gen Nexon is likely to launch by the end of 2027. It will be priced in the same ballpark as the Hyundai Venue and the new Maruti Brezza.
